I have the AANAC Certification and I am a Master Teacher. I also have the AANEX Certification. I am so glad that I got both, but I want to address AANEX, since it is so new. The courses were invaluable to me. They cover nursing budgets, operations, leadership, management, federal regulations…to name just a few.

AANAC and AANEX are non-profit organizations. They are our professional organizations, and a bulk of the work is done by folks with full time jobs in the industry, who are dedicated to solving the problems we face in trying to take care of our residents. I took all my courses on-line, and my opinion is they didn't charge enough for what I learned!

AANEX is strongly encouraging participation and feedback from interested parties. All movement in our industry began with a few with a vision…the ones that lasted are the ones where many, many others had the same vision. I, personally, am going to stay put, stay tuned, and give AANEX a while to grow and mature. I also will try to assist in any way I can.

I'm not sure how AANEX will evolve, but I know enough of the folks involved in its beginnings to know for certain, there are many, many other things this talented group of folks could be doing if it was all about the money…this is, in my opinion, all about the love for long-term care.

I am in the process of getting the AANEX Certification. In addition to the CE's and the resume building, I have found the courses to contain a wealth of information. I have implemented new procedures, new ways of doing QA, and followed many of the ideas presented in the modules. To me personally, it has been WELL worth the cost of the modules even if certification were not the end goal. I love the information I am getting as well as, of course, the wealth of information from State and Federal laws.

Of note, I just want to tell you that this is a tremendous and worthwhile investment and I am finding myself learning right from the get-go. Truly defining what it means to model myself as a Nurse Executive…

I just completed the last of the electives for the C-NE. I need to tell you how excited I am. There is such a wealth of knowledge in each course. They are so in-depth and excellent. The leadership and management courses are invaluable! I started out as an Assessment Coordinator 20 years ago. The changes in the job description have been tremendous since then. I am an LPN (and RN student) and have been the MDS Coordinator and Medicare Case Manager in my building since each position came into being. I became a RAC-C in 2003 and RAC-CT in 2006. The job continues to evolve. I feel so much more prepared to lead my team to the next levels based on what I have learned from AANAC and now AANEX. You are an invaluable source of information.

I cannot say enough about both organizations! I tell everyone about you. I don't think I would have stayed in this position without the knowledge and support of AANAC and what I have learned from AANEX already is invaluable!

I look forward to the future with both organizations!
