AANEX's First Nurse Leadership Certification Program a HUGE Success!
On January 8th, 2008 the American Association of Nurse Executives (AANEX), in partnership with the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA), provided its FIRST Certified Nurse Executive (C-NE™) program. The 3-day workshop was held at St. John's Home in Rochester, NY. Master Teachers and NYAHSA ProCareSM consultants Jennifer Pettis, Senior Policy Analyst and Sandy Biggi, Director of Nursing Facility Policy (sitting front center) presented this very first program.Workshop attendees included almost every level of nursing leadership, including directors of nursing, nurse managers, quality assurance managers, corporate nurse leaders, and assistant directors of nursing.

Many anecdotes from practice were shared that will help me look more critically at QI/QMs and how to put plans into place to help correct/improve areas of concern.
This was a great review of pressure ulcers, an area that continues to be a concern at my facility. I was able to pick up many ideas/reason why change is needed in some current practices that are not showing improvement/resolution.
